Group Leader - Department of Physics
Prof. Balpreet Singh Ahluwalia is a group leader at the Departement of Physics, UiT Norway. He leads a cross-disciplinary bio-photonics and integrated optics research group that focus towards the development of optical nanoscopy and its application towards clinically relevant biological application. He is recipient of 3 ERC Grants (STG+2 PoC). He is a co-founder of a spin-off Chip NanoImaging, outcome of his ERC project.

As a shareholder of SME named BiotaTec, Ms. Sirli Sipp Kulli is a devotee of novel bio-treatment technologies for low-grade ores and wastes. She is the director of the Geological Survey of Estonia, a survey that was established only 2 years ago. Ms. Sipp Kulli obtained Diploma Engineer in Chemical Engineering and a M.Sc in environmental chemistry.
Dr. Magdalena Skipper is Editor in Chief of Nature and Chief Editorial Advisor for Nature Research. She did her doctoral work at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology and holds a PhD in genetics from University of Cambridge, UK, and an honorary doctorate from University of Nottingham, her alma mater. Ms. Skipper is the editorial champion of diversity, equity and inclusion at Nature Research.
Director in DG Climate Action
Ms. Yvon Slingenberg is Director in DG Climate Action of the European Commission, responsible for International climate negotiations and implementation of the Paris Agreement and mainstreaming of climate issues in EU policies (e.g. MFF). She is also actively involved in the discussions on the EU vision for a Long-term Strategy for a climate neutral Europe by 2050.

Mr. Rob Smeets is Director Public-Private Partnerships, as part op Philips Chief Technology Office. He represents Philips towards European public authorities on research areas of digitisation and Health. In his current role Mr. Smeets is in charge of building European R&D networks and managing Philips’ participation in the Horizon 2020 and future Horizon Europe R&D programs, amongst which the MSCA programme.

Mr. Gerrie Smits is an author, keynote speaker & facilitator. His drive is to help organisations get more out of ‘digital’ and for the last 4 years he has been focusing on the impact of blockchain. He wrote ‘Blockchain is WTF’, helped government agencies with exploring the potential & his ability to explain blockchain in non-technical terms got him invited to the World Chambers Congress in Rio de Janeiro.

Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Technology
Ms. Clivia Sotomayor Torres is ICREA Research Professor based at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, leading a team working on phonon engineering. She was a co-chair of FET Advisory Group, and coordinated the FET project PHENOMEN. She is involved in the ERC panel, Expert Committee for the Excellence Strategy of German Universities and Danish National Research Foundation, among many other.

Mr. Karl Soukup works in the Directorate General for Competition (DG COMP) of the European Commission. He heads there a Directorate in charge of state aid control in a number of areas: aid for regional development, for research, development and innovation (including Important Projects of Common European Interest) and for environment, as well as fiscal aid.

Dr. Roger Andre Søraa is a researcher at the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture (KULT) and Department for Neuromedicine and Movement Science at NTNU Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He researches digitalization and robotization of society, and the ethical, gendered and epistemological consequences of this, and leads a research group on the digitalization of society.

Dr. Emmanuel Stratakis is Head of the Ultrafast Laser Micro-and-Nano Processing Lab, Research Director at FORTH-IESL, where he leads the Nanoscience Facility, and CEO of Biomimetic. He is the National Representative the European HLG on Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies and Advanced Materials and member of the Scientific Committee of COST. He coordinated the FET projects LiNaBioFluid and LaBionicS.
