Ms. Karina Angelieva is a Deputy Minister of Education and Science. Former Head of Sector Education and Research at the Permanent Representation of the RB to the EU. She holds Master’s degrees in European integration and in Contemporary History. Her previous positions held include Director-General of Structural Funds and Director of the Joint Innovation Centre of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Ms. Antoaneta Angelova-Krasteva has been Director for Innovation, International Cooperation and Sport at DG EAC since 2016. Her Directorate is therefore responsible for the MSCA and the EIT. Prior to entering the EC, Antoaneta worked as a Bulgarian diplomat in Brussels. She is a graduate in political science of Sofia University, with qualifications in European Studies from Germany and the UK.

Ms. Cecilia Cabello has professional experience in the many areas of S&T policy. She currently is on the Bureau OECD NESTI and Chair of ERAC SWG Human Resources and Mobility.

Prof. Dragoş Mihael Ciuparu is a chemical engineer by training with a Ph.D. from the University of Paris 7 “Denis Diderot”. He spent almost 7 years with the Department of Chemical Engineering at Yale University, as a post-doctoral fellow, and Research Scientist. Mr. Ciuparu served as head of research administration in Romania between 2010 and 2012 and is currently Secretary of state for research.
Ms. Maria da Graça Carvalho is a Member of the European Parliament. She was twice Minister of Science and Higher Education in Portugal, she was Adviser of Commissioner for Research and Innovation Carlos Moedas and previously Principal Adviser of President Barroso. She served as Member of the European Parliament also between 2009 and 2014 becoming one of the rapporteurs of Horizon 2020.

Ms. Magda De Carli is an economist with Master in European Economics & Public Affairs and has over 20 years of experience in research and innovation, SME support and regional policy gained at local and European level, private and public. She is currently Head of the Unit 'ERA & Country Intelligence' in DG R&I, responsible for the European Research Area, Semester, Widening and synergies with Structural Funds.

Mr. Peter Dröll has been working in the European Commission since 1991 with positions in environment, enlargement negotiations, industry policy, innovation and research. He was Cabinet member of Enlargement Commissioner Günter Verheugen and Head of Cabinet of the Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potočnik. Since 2010 Mr. Dröll has been in charge of Innovation, Industrial Technology and now Director for Prosperity in DG R&I.

Ms. Pearl Dykstra is professor of Empirical Sociology at Erasmus University Rotterdam. She serves as the Deputy Chair of the European Commission’s group of Chief Scientific Advisors. She is also an elected member of the Netherlands Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Academia Europaea.

Mr. Yannis Ioannidis is the President and Director of the “Athena” Research and Innovation Center and a Professor at the Dept. of Informatics and Telecom of the Univ. of Athens. He has been the coordinator and legal entity head of OpenAIRE and a key partner in the Human Brain Project. Mr. Ioannidis is a vice chair, an Executive Board member and the Greek delegate of ESFRI.

Mr. Michael Keenan is a Senior Policy Analyst in the OECD’s Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry, where he leads preparation of the flagship Science, Technology and Innovation Outlook publication. He also leads the team responsible for the EC-OECD STIP Compass platform, a semantic database of more than 5,000 policy initiatives from more than 50 countries.
