HUB 8: European Innovation Council
Putting Europe at the forefront of breakthrough and disruptive innovation
The European Innovation Council (EIC) identifies, develops and scales up breakthrough and disruptive innovations. Launched as a €3 billion pilot in 2018, it will be fully established in 2021 as one of the main new features of Horizon Europe. The EIC pilot has already supported many of Europe’s most innovative start-ups, SMEs and researchers, with simplified and agile funding from advanced research to commercial scale up. It has pioneered business advisory and support services, equity investment through the new EIC Fund, and new ways of managing funding with the first EIC Programme Managers. It is playing a critical role in supporting start-ups and SMEs in the European economic recovery.
Sessions in his hub explored what had already been achieved in the pilot phase and co-create opportunities for the full EIC in 2021. Participants were able to
- meet EIC Advisory Board members, Programme Managers, EIC portfolio companies and projects
- discover the EIC Fund,
- help build the EIC ecosystem and Future Tech week
- find out how the EIC is supporting women innovators, the Green Deal and the fight against Covid-19.
The European Innovation Council supports visionary entrepreneurs who create transformative solutions to pressing societal and environmental challenges, supporting the Green Deal and the recovery plan for Europe.
